Music and Yoga Day – June 21, 2022
To celebrate World Music Day and International Music Day, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai, and Carnatica are organising a full day of events on June 21, 2022.
Beginning with a Yoga and meditation session at the Nageswara Rao Park, Mylapore, Chennai, the day’s other events will be held at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s auditorium on East Mada Street in Mylapore.
The evening will begin with a Choir by Sargam, presented by Dr. Sudha Raja at 5 p.m. After the inaugural ceremony, vidwan Umayalpuram K Sivaraman will present a unique thematic percussion solo in mridangam in Tayambaka style in 6 speeds.
‘East meet West’, a special Music Day performance by Vidvans Anil Srinivasan (piano), Sikkil Gurucharan (vocal) and Sumesh Narayanan (mridangam) at 6.50 p.m. Following this Subhashree Thanikachalam will present QFR-Unplugged, as a tribute to 20 women singers. This will feature Samanvitha (vocal), V.G. Vigneswar (keyboard) and Aswini Srinivasan (percussion). At 8.15 p.m. vidwan Rajhesh Vaidhya will present ‘Stringing of a Musical Chord’ – a veena ensemble.
