Remembering Papanasam Sivan

Papanasam Sivan Rasikar Sangam, in collaboration with Narada Gana Sabha, will mark the 134th birth anniversary of Papanasam Sivan on September 26, 2024, at Sadguru Gnananda Hall. Musicologist Ritha Rajan will serve as the chief guest, with Cleveland V.V. Sundaram as the guest of honour.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with the rendition of Kapaleeswarar Pancharathnam by eminent artists. At 6:15 p.m., vocalist Saketharaman will be conferred the title of ‘Sivanisai Selvar,’ followed by his concert at 7 p.m., accompanied by H.N. Bhaskar on violin, N.C. Bharadwaj on mridangam, and S. Karthick on ghatam.

The celebrations continue with vocal concerts by K. Gayatri on September 27 at 6:30 p.m. and Shetalai K.N. Renganatha Sharma on September 28 at 6:30 p.m., both taking place at the Sabha Mini Hall.

In addition, the Sangam, in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore, has organized a special concert by Sriranjani Santhanagopalan on October 1, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the composer’s passing.
