Music Festival celebrating Gopalakrishna Bharathi
The Gopalakrishna Bharathi Music Festival Trust is hosting its 36th annual music festival to commemorate the renowned composer. He attained siddhi on a Mahashivaratri day. The festival will be held at Arulmigu Medha Dakshinamurthy Temple, Mayiladuthurai, from March 9 to 11, 2024.
Gopalakrishna Bharathi composed many songs in praise of Shiva, including the famous ‘Nandanar Charitram’ in Tamil. The festival will begin with Injikkudi Ganesan’s Nagaswaram performance at 4.30 p.m., followed by an award ceremony for Madurai T N Seshagopalan. Kruthi Vittal will have a vocal concert at 6 p.m., followed by a musical discourse by T N Seshagopalan.
Other events include a vocal concert by Anahita and Apoorva on March 10 at 5 p.m., a veena duet by Mudicondan Ramesh and R Sowmya at 6:30 p.m., and Bharatanatyam by guru Roja Kannan and disciples at 8 p.m.
On the last day, there will be a vocal concert by Sruthi Sankarkumar at 4 p.m., followed by Girijashankar’s concert at 5.15 p.m., Ashwathnarayanan’s concert at 6.30 p.m., and namasankeerthanam by Udayalur Dr K Kalyanaraman and group at 8.15 p.m.
